That's the Cree cousin to the Seoul P7. I suggested it in the other thread.

It should be easier to focus due to a smaller dome (I looked a while a go and thought the dome would be a squeeze but should fit with our normal optics). It's also more controlable since you can link the dies however you feel like.

this might be a better option, seeing as it only needs 700 ma insted of 3000 ma.

I am confused about the voltage that you listed. The info on the site states:

    # CREEMCE-W370, White Cree MC-E Star Features: 370 lm @ 350mA
    # 700mA - Max Drive Current
    # 12.8Vf - Typ. Forward Voltage @ 350mA
    # 13.6Vf - Typ. Forward Voltage @ 700mA
    # 6500K - Typ. Color Temperature
    # 4-Chip In Series Circuit
    # Cree Part# MCE4WT-A2-0000-000K02

so where did you get the 3.4v?

3.4 volts is the required vf @ 700ma for each of the 4 dies individually...he read the chart wrong.

    Thanx Jay,

That's what I figured, and of coarse it is a series circuit for the LEDs which in turn would require the full 12+ volts to run, or am I wrong?

X-wing would be the one to know for sure, but I think you're correct, they'd have to wired in series to get the full lumens out of it.

It may depend on how you wire it. Series and parallel are still "in full effect" if an LED has several dies on the same star...

...just like if you "chained together" a bunch of Luxeon III stars with several wires. You could do this in || or in = , heheheh

After reading the PDF for it it does say "Individually addressable LEDs", so Nova, you are correct in stating that they can be II or =.
