Comparisson between several diffusers
I have been wanting to this for a while and finally got around to it. A few notes: I set up the camera on "manual" and locked in the same expossure for all shots. All polyC tubes are stock MR. One of them (the one with polypropylene only) was heavily dinged, so that might show in the pics. It's not a picture error, that's the blade.
All blades had the same reflective tip. In the close-up shots, the dimmest section of the blade is shown, the same for all shots. The differences in brightness are actual, not relative - like I said, I locked in the exposure.
My personal observations - I hope they come through in the pictures:
-the combo diffuser made for the most evenly lit blade
-the polypropylene had a slightly fuzzy edge resembling the movies better. Also the eveness of the blade was quite close to the combo one
-MR and Corbin's were much brighter at the base and dimmed much faster towards the tip.
-Corbin's had that unique, optical illusion of a core, that some might go crazy for. However, when in combination, it almost dissapears.
-MR performed the poorest, but was the easiest to install
I'll let the picture illustrate:

What I'd really like to know is how the polypropylene stocks up against mylar. Can't wait for your part of the test.

Thanks,Gelu that is real helpful since I have had a hard time really seeing a difference since all pics are done in more possible variations then I want to think about.
Good call xwing this will be most helpful.

i think polypropylene+blade film wins this one.

The film+polyP looks friggin suhweet! How does that go together? Is the film inside or outside the polyP? And what's a good source for polyP? How many questions can i ask in a single post? Will my saber mania ever end?[]

Yep, the film on the outside, the polypropylene inside. The other way around was not a good idea, it was dark with worse light distribution than the MR. Polypropylene is clear wrapping foil like the one your local florist uses
