Anyone know anything about this one. 5 watts and it says it has it's own driver. What am I missing?

Maybe it's just that it's from Hong Kong, seems too good to be true.

Either the guy is dishonest, or he doesn't know what he's talking about. From the lesser pic he's showing, I think he's selling a LuxIII Green. I have never heard of a hi-power LED in on a star circuit board with a built in driver.

    Also, do the math. 1050mA (Round down to 1A) X 3.4 - 3.6 (Generously rounded up to 4v) = about 4W

He's giving the Luminous Flux for a Lux V, but the Ratings for current and Voltage of a Lux III.

I would ask what the numbers are on the back of the LED...

It's hard to tell from the super blurry photos. You can usually tell the difference between a V and a III by the shape of the wafer, and of course the size of the backplate. To me those look like Lux III's in the pics

In one pic it looks like it says luminaled or something like that.

After looking at it, he's selling cheap knock offs and using Lumileds (Philips) LEDs as a stock photo in the item description.

    They're "Lux III" HK specials...

    Avoid.

Just buy a Seoul P4 Green LED. They get pretty close to that brightness.

LED-Tech.de isn't bad, and pretty reliable. If there's enough demand, though, I'm pretty sure that Tim could stock them in the store. I know he has a source for the white P4s.

Care to weigh in on this, Tim the Enchan... - I mean, Tim the Saber Maker?

Well Led-tech.de can take a little time to ship. Also the prices can be a little high on some of their stuff.

Lux III greens are just fine. Why spend the time and money for a P4 when the Lux III are commonly available?
