Because a P4 green is brighter than a Lux V green with less power requirements.

P4s have the reputation of being richer colors across the board.

I wouldnt say that they're brighter than a lux V, but it IS bright. They can be found for a good price at some of the links provided. Google is a good friend too, though I think we should urge Tim to carry the range of colors so we can give him the business instead of automatically pointing others elsewhere. For the record though, the P4 blue is AWESOME!!

    Ok I'll correct myself

    Green
    P4 182 lumens
    Lux V 160 lumens

P4 Blue is brigther than Lux III at 38 lumens.

P4 Red isn't as bright as Lux III at 108 lumens.

But again, I hear the colors are awesome.

I definitely agree with not sending people somewhere else. I just edited that out of my post.

Lets encourage tim to stock the colored P4s

The P4 is on the bottom, and the Lux V is on the top
Lux V is set on 46 in the current settings on a CF 3.0 with a 7.2 TCSS battery pack
P4 is set on 60 in the current settings on a CF 3.0 with a 4.8 TCSS battery pack
    no light

    lighted room

    My camera sux.
Granted that the 7.2 pack will kick a ultrafires 14500 2 pack in terms of brightness and runtimes all day long. But you can see they are close.
I have been a fan of the P4 color series for a while now. They kick the crap out of Lux III. For greens I always go with a Lux V, provided it can be powered properly. Otherwise I use a P4 green
For Reds and blues, I always use the P4.
When I sent Master Yoda a CF 4.0 for my Negotiator AOTC #7, I sent a Blue P4 for him to use, and he was impressed with the results, and so was I.

Default Lux III greens are just fine

Well it may be that Lux III greens are just fine.

All good and true. But I have two Lux III (one is green) and the brightness is not knocking my socks off. I'd like something a little brighter...maybe the K2, I'm still investigating the possibilities.

I want to run a hasbro board on the same battery pack (6 volts) so I don't want a 5 watt, but I'd like a similar brightness if possible.

    Any opinons there?

Well then....the P4 is your option. It uses the same power as a LUX III but is way brighter than a III. Just not as bright as a V. I dont see any point to using a K2. P4 Blue eats the III alive in brightness and its an AWESOME color.

If it's as good as you say, I don't see any point in using a K2 either. Have you got a reputable supplier? Preferably one with an english language website please (this is not a complaint, merely a preference).

Otherwise I have been thinking along the lines of a K2 (I have a reliable source for those) and two 700ma Buck Pucks, in parallel of course. I'm thinking that should get me in the ballpark.

    Opinions?
