Default Open Saber Project: LED driver preview

With Halloween on Friday and a few OSP driver boards sitting on my soldering desk I though I would throw one into an MHS hilt I got in one of Tim's Grab Bags. So here it is:

Do I hear the word BRIGHT?!

As stated in the Video, It is running a LedEngin at 5.3v and 2A. The heart of the driver board is the stsc2 Chip

The schematic is straight from the data sheet. Huge thanks to TroyO who designed the PCB. I am also working on a version that will have a pulsing effect, this hopefully will be ready Friday.

    Thanks for looking

    Holy CRAP!

I could never duel at night with something that bright. Holding it anywhere near my face would blind me.

When I watched you fire up that saber, it got an out-loud "WHOA" from me. That sucker is BRIGHT! Thanks for showing us!

I'ts hard to tell brightness though. A Lux III can look the same in videos too in comparison to a MR.

I think you probably could hook it up to a clock chip and change the frequency. It would just slowly brighten the LED as you sped up the frequency.

Yes you can use PWM dimming for ramping as well as flicker. I am working on getting a LedEngin 10W amber up and running for tomorrow as well. If all goes to plan it will have the ramping and flicker effects working and I will try and get a video up.

As for the sound part that I mentioned might be up, I am still working on the Amplifier section. I need to get some parts to finish it off.
