Thread: Customizing a hilt

    Default Customizing a hilt

What do you guys normally use for customizing the hilt to go over the MHS? Copper/Brass tubing? If so what size and gauge?

A 1.5" sink tube 22 gauge (thin wall) will slide over the outside of a MHS hilt. You can use a dremel to cut designs or what ever into the tube giving your saber the look you want, the choice is really up to you.

But it won't slide over the pommel or blade holdeer unless they're machined down.

If you cut the sink tube to fit between the blade holder and pommel it will work fine the hilt is slightly smaller and the ends will help hold the sink tube in place, of course you must unscrew the pommel to get the sink tube to slide on. lol (sorry I could not resist that one no offense to anyone)

thats why ya unscrew one end to slip it on. the 2 ends will trap the sink pipe between them holding it securely in place

Also, the ends (emitter and pommel) of the MHS are about the same width as a 1.5" sink tube. So, 1.25" 160psi PVC pipe fits over it nicely. (Yes, I know it doesn't make sense for 1.25" to be bigger than 1.5"...)

But you guys still bolt/screw the sink tube onto the MHS rite?

You don't need to if the pommel and blade holder hold it in.

if ya keep the fit good and tight between the ends, it should hold it just fine like that.

I've been looking at the MHS stuff in the shop.. just to be certain, there is only one style of pommel being offered and one style of blade holder?

"Do you know how to use one of these?"
"Yes. The pointy end goes into the other man."
