Lightbulb Building my wife a saber

I've decided that the next saber I build from scratch is going to be for my wife.
Maybe after I build her one she'll let me build more

Because her nickname is Tulip, I've decided to craft one to match!

    Here is the proposed design:

    Here are the parts:

    Hilt:

    1)Double threaded hilt style 2 - 30 bucks
    2)MHS choke style 1 long - 13.50
3)Screw on LED blade holder style 10 -23.95
    4)MPS pommel style 3 V2 - 18.00
    5)TCSS covertec silver - side 2.50
    6) TCSS Red Acetal Thumb Screw
    7) Red )-ring's x 7 - 5.25
    Total: 94.95

    Electronics:

    White Seol P4 - 6.00
    9) Lux III holder - 2.00
    10) Buckpuck, wired to a hasbro sound card - free!
    11) 5deg lens - 4.00
    12) 4AA holder - $1.92
    13)Guarded switch - RED - 8.00
    13a) colored discs - 1.00
    Total: 22.92

    Blade:

    14)1'' thin poly C - 7.99
    15)Shouldered 1' thick walled blade tips w/reflective disk - 3.50
    16)Blade film - 4.50
    Total: 15.99

    Extra:

17)Neon Green powder coating for hilt - 12.50
    1Drill tapping myself.
    Total: 12.50

So that brings the total to about...
    $146.36

    Dangit, she better like it
Her fave color is purple so i'll be using the colored discs for that.

    What yah all think?

If you're gonna go with white, why not try the P4? It is cheaper and brighter. btw when I first read that I thought you were gonna make your saber your wife.

Also, if you're going with a red blade, why use a filter? You'll get a much better color from a red LED. Filters should be mainly used for colors that can't be attained from a single LED like yellow or purple. Go for the pure color when you can.

What's the red dot on the blade holder? If you're meaning for that to be the blade retention screw, it's too far down. It's currently on the threads for the holder, not the blade. You'll see how it needs to go easier once you get the parts in hand.
Yes, I spell it sabre. I just like it that way.

Er, blade color will be purple, where did you get red from (tulip maybe? )

I'll just have to move that retention screw up is all, no biggy there.

Ah, I see where I read it wrong.

    13)Guarded switch - RED - 8.00
    13a) colored discs - 1.00

While browsing through, my eyes put those together into this.

There are several threads with good purple color discussions, so hunt around to see examples of what's available.

    That sucks dude.

I'm probably going to make one for my wife, but I'm not planning on asking. I'm just gonna build it. She can claim it as her own, or it will be just another of mine to put on the wall.
