Thread: MHS LED holder

  1. #1

    Default MHS LED holder

This might've been discussed at an earlier date and I just missed it, but after looking at the tutorials I'm confused: how does the led holder in the MHS hilt stay in? It seems like it's just sitting in there, but I don't think that can be the case.

The LED itself is held by nylon screws. The lens holder does "just sit there." There are four legs on the lens holder that lock it into the spokes of the star LED. It then is sandwiched between the blade holder and the heatsink.

Between the pictures and the cutout views here you should see how it works.

Thanks... yeah, I saw the pics, but I thought that there would need to be something else that held it firm for combat, but I see what you're talking about. Thanks again.

Reaper, i was also initially worried about this, but when you screw the blade holder to the hilt, it holds everything nice and tight so no worries

OK guys, dumb question I guess, reviving an old topic and all, but....I have completed the wirings and I am about to start putting the thing together. So my question is, how does the blade holder holds...the blade in place, especially for combat? Do I have to drill-n-screw it in place?

    Again, pardon the ignorance masters...[]

BTW, Tim, the package...SUPERBLY DONE!!! Way better than I expected! Photos to follow soon!!

Yup, Drill and tap a thumbscrew to hold the blade in.

I'm adding this to the FAQ as I've seen it quite a bit lately.

Copy Red Leader...when you say drill, you mean the blade as well? So that the screw passes through the blade, or drill just the hilt to apply pressure on it?

    Again, forgive my ignorance

Figure out where you want the thumb screw, preferred location is in the thicker part of the blade holder. Then remove your blade and drill and thread your hole, take a small file or sandpaper and smooth the inside of the blade holder where you drilled and tapped the hole and then insert blade and tighten thumb screw until the blade is snug and doesn't come out, don't use a wrench or pliers to tighten the thumb screw as you may damage your blade. The pressure of the screw pressing against the blade will hold the blade firm.
