They're LED drivers... don't know what else to say.

I always thought those "drivers" were nothing but a voltage sensing circuit that would adjust resistance accordingly. If an LED needs 3.4 Volts to light up, the "driver" should provide almost no resistance if one tries to power it up from 3 volts, but the LED should not light up at all. Don, did you actually try this?

I have a functional setup that is waiting to be installed into a heiland hilt. I am using a hasbro sound board a micropuck led driver on the output of the sound board and a green luxeon star 1 watt led all in a tcss holder and adapter that Tim machined down to fit into the heiland hilt. This saber will be for myself, always wanted a green saber, I know it is not very sith like. Check my post with the diagram and you will see a green blade which is this setup. Works great.

Has anyone tried the ROTS Vader soundboard? It's not on the list on this thread(which is very helpful, thank you) and it was released with the Obi-Wan with the motor and colorchanging Ani.

The ROTS vader sound board should work fine, the one to avoid is the color changing Anakin model.

Just to let you all know, watch your stores. My Wal-mart just dropped the $20 sabers to $11. I'm going to pick up the ROTS Vaders. Like Gelu has said avoid the Anakin changing ones and I've seen nothing but trouble on getting the ROTS Obi's out of the plastic.

The last Vader one I got I was less than impressed... (I think it's the new release)

It had FOC and the idle was not as good. The clash was horrific. Overall I did not like it and I returned it to get the Anakin.

The Anakin did not fit in the MHS body, and the Obi Wan IS a bear to take apart. But I like the idle on it so that's what I used.

This helped when disassembaling the Obi Wan...
