Sweet! Are you doing the thumbscrew hole yourself? If not I would wait till Tim gets back

Sounds like quite a long blade for a single-handed saber, is the length integral to the design as personally I've have opted for something a little shorter (34" maybe?).

Mind you, at the moment I'm making a saber hilt that's about 2ft long so I obviously have no sense of proportion .

Also, do you plan on dueling with this saber? I would recommend not dueling with blade holder #10, I just got one right before Tim went on vacation, and with the edges cut out like they are, I don't think it's strong enough to take a lot of hits with a blade in it.

I got mine for a "show" saber, since I now have 2 sabers, as well as having many different blade holders by now. If I was going to use that particular saber for dueling, I'd change out the blade holder.

I've been collecting MHS parts for a couple of years, so I have several different blade holders and pommels now. (ok, so I get bored and like to change out parts randomly )

If you plan on dueling with this saber, and can afford it, I would suggest getting another blade holder for that purpose, and using the #10 just for "show". A #9 should be stronger, and definetly #7 will be.

Malaki - If I know (or someone can tell me) what the thread is then i can drill and tap the hole myself, or that was the plan lol

Strachan - You think a 34" would be better? I'm open to ideas for the next few hours lol

Loreen - Now you mention it i think i might order 'number 9', as a dueling BH, and use 'number 10' for display, good thinking, the force is strong with you...lol

Any other last minute thoughts or ideas? all are welcome

    cheers guys

for a blade retention screw..its really up to you..but somethign that can grab the blade more is best.. I believe most use 8/32 or 10/32

but wait until someone more sure answers before you blindly follow..

for my PERSONAL opinion on your build.. I think its too short..

a 2 in extension make work good and you could go BLACK with it something..

you can use the Interactive Saber Builder to make a mock up:

If you look at the description of the Large thumb screw, it says it's an 8/32 thread. Personally, I prefer the 10/32 thumb screws, they have a slightly larger "bite" on the blade.
