Thread: Luxeon V with sound board, HELP!

    Unhappy Luxeon V with sound board, HELP!

    i have a custom hilt and a luxeonV. i desperately need a sound board. does anyone know where i can get a nice one. i have a darth vader fx sound board, can i use that or will it fry trying to run through it thr voltage need to power the luxV.

    Do not use an MRFX board with a Luxeon V... the Luxeon V requires ~6.85v to light up properly (and 700ma current)... but the MRFX boards cannot handle anything more than 6v at the *very* maximum.

    In general, an MRFX should be run from 4.5v to 5.5v.

    If you still want to try a solution, I'd recommend a DPDT switch that can throw two circuits:

    * One for MRFX (essentially sound only) + the battery pack & speaker
    * One for the Lux V (light only) + resistor + its OWN battery pack

    That is an easy, yet space-consuming way to do it.

    here's a down and dirty way to wire your set up, I don't know if you're using a puck or resistor, but with the vader sound board this will work.

    and to reiterate what Novastar said, Usually people don't use 2 batteries, it takes up a lot of space, but with a MR sound board and Lux V, there's really no other way... unless you get a CF or Ultrasound board...
