Well Hasid Anne Hathaway is an actress that's in The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries , she's pretty HOT. I don't anything about her "cottage" where are you hearing this.

I would guess they are using it as an analogy for something that is quintessentially English in appearance.Oak beams,stone floor,thatched roof etc.
