Default 6 volts on a MR Sound Card

I know this topic seems to come up a lot, but I still had some questions.

I know the Boards are rated at 4.5 volts, but does anyone have a first hand experience of 6v signifigantly impacting the sound cards life? How long can I expect the card to last with a 6 v setup?
I'm putting sound in mine, and just cam across a Vader card for my wife's project and I have tested mine at 6v and it sounds great, but I don't want it to fail prematurely.

If you are concerned about the longevity of the soundboards, I recommend going to a 4 cell NiMH Rechargeable pack. That 4.8 and not much over the the rated value of the board. Otherwise, it should run on 6 volts for several hours. Even longer if you only run it for a couple of minutes at a time.
