Barmic youve got me started on something now
My personal preference is without, also. Just because the hilt would be too long with the extra section. For me, it would be a little unwieldy.

You over estimate my FLOWERS!
I say go with choke. The added length actually makes the whole saber seem more slender somehow. Because the girth is fixed, making it shorter just feels... stubbier.
The beauty of MHS is that you can take it out if you don't like it anymore.
Out of curiosity, what did you use for the ribs at towards the pommel?
I say go long. I think a little machining could make it look a lot better though, if you have access to such capabilities.
I don't think taking off 1/32" here and there will affect structural stability.
I think the one thing which affects the look of the longer one the most is the blank section at the top of the ribbed section. If it could be made somewhat ribbed, then that would help that a lot, if it could be done I know the threads are in the way, but I think someone did something similar to this once.

Those who have earned the right to boast have no need to.
i like that look of the shorter on best, but i like build long hilts. Go with whats more comfortable.
Alrighty, with the thin neck, it does look closer to the actual thing, and it would give you another place to hold onto pretty well, giving you some more leverage in fights. And if you look closely in ROTS, Obi-Wan puts his right hand there anyway
With the shorter one, it does look different, but overall I still think it would look good. And from my point of view, probably more comfortable to hold as well.
Those are my opinions on both
By the way, quick question, is that a Saberkit radiator behind the control box? If so how did you get it to fit on the mhs section o:
Maverick
I voted for the choke point. Even though it looks a bit too long and awkwerd, it is more prop accurate.
Proud owner of the last two style 6 MHS blade holders!

overall it's very close in design to the Kraken, and for me, it's perfectly balanced, and my hand naturally goes to that choke point.
