Thread: Luxeons used on New York's "ball"

Default Luxeons used on New York's "ball"

    Hi all.
I just got a newsletter from Luxeon's US distributor. They say that the New Year's Eve ball that drops in Times Square in New York has been made differently this year. It's using a ton of Luxeon LEDs now. This year will also be the 100th anniversary of the ball, so it's cool that they decided to use Luxeons to light it up.

According to the newsletter, a total of 9,576 LUXEON K2 and LUXEON Rebel LEDs completely replace the old incandescent, halogen, and strobe lights in the previous Ball.

    Just thought I'd share.

Holy cow! Now THIS is a Force to be reckoned with!!!

And I thought the new v2.61 green Flange III had a decent amount of LEDs in there:

Celebration that the New Year's... uh... balls... dropped?

    hahahha

I don't know, maybe it's some kind of rite of passage for 2008. Into manhood.... or.... something.

I guess it's better than if a big shaft dropped under UV lighting or something. With guest host Samuel Jackson. Hmm... yeah. LOL
