Thread: D-ring safety

  1. #1

    Default D-ring safety

I thought this was interesting and figured I'd share it. One of my MHS demo sabers has a slide switch for the on/off. When I replaced the existing pommel with a number 1 MPS with a Luke ROTJ FX pommel slid over it, I noticed that the triangular D-ring happened to line up perfectly with the on/off switch, acting as a sort of safety when the saber is off.

Here's a short video showing it in action:

Thats a very interesting grip you've got there. I like it. Is it carbon fiber?

It's just a standard slotted double female section with carbon fiber tape cut out and attached between the inserts. I added some up on the narrowed neck by the emitter too. Here's a pic with the original pommel:

And where can you find this tape? I might just have to get some.

Tim was supposed to have gotten a sample kit of it some months ago. I'm not really sure what's going on with it other than that. You could PM or email him and see if it's available. If not, I might be able to help you with some.

That carbon fibre tape looks interesting, worth keeping an eye out for. I'm still trying to find the textured chrome tape in the UK

I've seen that carbon fiber tape in my local Canadian Tire store. It was in with the pinstriping and other customizing stuff. Any place that sells auto detailing supplies should have it.
