Short version is they just reorged her department. Anyone who's ever been through a lay off knows it's preceeded by a reorg.

Wish I could help, just remember not to get stressed out about it. Things happen when there meant to. Theres two rules that I like to live by that I heard in a movie once. 1) Don't sweat the little stuff 2) Everything is little stuff. It has always worked for me.
