Default A gift to the fiancee - scratchbuilt Yoda LED saber

Ever since my finacee found out about my penchant for saber building, she has lusted after a Yoda "replica". It took me many months to get around to figuring out how to built it, but I finally did it.

Based on a 1.25" aluminum tube and featuring Tim's 1.25" LED blade holder, the saber is driven by a Luke 2005 MR sound board and features a 4.8v NiMH battery pack.

Using a 28" Ultrablade, this saber is extremely bright and so much fun to swing around due to its light weight.

All details were hand-built on this saber, from the shroud cover to the control box that houses the recharge port and switch, to the grips and the sound chamber out the back of the saber.

The only thing I regret about the build is that by using the full 2" of the blade holder, there wasn't enough room in the hilt to have the speaker inside the body, so that's why the "external" chamber you see. Otherwise, this saber is a 1.1 times size of the CGI version of the saber. No bigger than the saber is, i wouldn't want to use it for "gorilla dueling", so I think I could cut the blade holder down to 1.5" and be in good shape and the saber's end would be at the knurling where it belongs.

I'm honestly considering making a few of these for sale on my site. They're not terribly difficult to build, now that I've figured out how to route wires to make everything fit.

I'll bet you'll do well with them. Those are a great size for off-handed dual-wieding, or for a kid's hands. My son uses mine with his costume.
