I knew it wouldn't be long before Lucas consulted with all his folks that have helped make the MR/Lucas setup for sabers.

And I do indeed think that it is very very interesting to see that Luxeon named their latest LED the "Rebel Endor Moon". Or whatever.

It will be a lot easier to modify though... I mean, if it truly IS an RGB LED, you could always convert it to a RRR or GGG or BBB to make it effectively a lot brighter.

This will certainly be a cool thing for the Luxeon community. I hope!

I suspect it's a ProLight RGB setup. Those have three separate 1 watt emitters on a single star board. The unit is called a 3 watt LED, but unless you're running all three elements at the same time, it's not.

Still, it should prove interesting to see if this goes anywhere. If nothing else, I suppose it might make it easier to convert them to regular single color Luxeons later, though I suspect the power settings would be less than adequate for a 3 watt Lux.

I'm afraid i'll have to grab one of these kits. I'll cannibalise what I can, but if they're anything like the size of other MRs, then they're just a wee bit too big for me, so if anybody needs spares for the casing...

    I wouldn't want one...

unless they powered the Rebel Endor Moon with its appropriate voltage/current... and did all green, all red, all blue, all whatever kind of setups.

As Corbin sort of hinted to... an RGB LED is not that great if you're looking for maximum brightness in a color, as... well, here--you'll get the idea:

    RED would be........ R=255, G=000, B=000
    GREEN would be.... R=000, G=255, B=000
    ORANGE would be.. R=192, G=064, B=000
    WHITE would be.... R=255, G=255, B=255
    ... etc.

Now granted, the numbers are arbitrary, but as you might imagine, most colors would not use the full capability of the LED! Only white would "max" out all of the dies.

RGB always sounds nice, but I think the novelty is not as fun as having a brighter saber. Three reds or three greens would do it for me, heheheh... RRR or GGG!!!
