Default MR Maul stock batt to 4 AAA batt pack

Hey guys I was thinking of taking the stock batt pack out of my maul conversion and modding the batt pack with a 4AAA pack to give the power supply an extra 1 1/2 volts. The reason being is that I have a k2 in my maul but I want it brighter. So I could either mod the origanal pack with the speaker and the front piece that has the three metal contact holes or just hardwire in a 4aaa pack. What would be better,or what would work?

    Thanks guys.

I would just add a different battery pack.

I don't think it'll get brighter with more voltage, what you want is more current. The led needs 1.5 amps, or 1500 mah to put out it's full lumens. If you're running it off the MR board, you may wnat to use a DPDT switch and then wire the led on a seperate cicuit with a proper resistor or driver.

    Use a Seoul P4 or Cree XR-E...

It's a more efficient white LED. It's rated at 220-240 lumens driven at 1A... now an MR board isn't putting that much out, but even if it's half that it's putting 100+ lumens easily.

Simply the swap to this would give you a LARGE jump in brightness for not changing anything else. The MR battery pack is a nice piece and getting rid of it is folly.

    Google it...

Seoul P4 or it's cousin the Cree XR-E. It's not a Luxeon product...

I got mine from www.led-tech.de but I was buying a bunch of other stuff from them too.
