My brother has never had a problem taking the pin out with a tiny screw driver.

i have also used a small nail and punched it through.

yeah i finally got the pin out. I ended up taking a hammer and nail and going to town on it for a few minutes. I thought for sure i'd damage the blade and everything inside but once the pin fell inside everything just slid right out.
