If only there was a way to play rouge squadren vs mode on here I would show you all how good a Ywing can fly. I've shot down so many ships of each class on there it ain't funny. The last time I can remember getting shot out of the air in my Ywing was because of stupidity. I was flying low on a bombing run and got too close to the bombs as they went off. Yeah pretty dumb ain't it. Still I could easily take out an Awing in a Y.

Well as you remember it was an A-wing in Ep VI that took out the bridge shield generator on Vader's super Star Destroyer allowing another A-wing to crash into the bridge causing the Super Star Destroyer to crash into the Death Star.

You forgot to menchin that the Ywing can carry up to 20 bombs when not using protons. Although the Awings took out the shield generator I'm sure they had to make several passes on it like any other ship would have. Given they took it out but had a Ywing been carrying bombs it could've droped one into the bridge and took out the star destroyer.

I doute that a ywing loaded with bombs taking out a star destroyer falling into the death star would of destroyed the deathstar.

The death star can only be destroyed from the inside out., them 20 bombs the ywing was carying would of done nothing except to make the fart bigger.

Actually it only took two passes by two A-wing fighters who fired 2 missles each to take out the bridge deflector shield generator. Dropping a bomb onto the bridge would have done no more damage the A-Wing suicide dive into the bridge did. Even if the Y-Wing were able to strafe the target ship, 20 bombs are not going to destroy a 19 kilometer long Super Star Destroyer. At best they would cause it crash into the Death Star, which is exactly what happened when the A-wing took out the bridge.

Here is a more detailed description of the Concussion Missles: Each concussion missile featured an armor-piercing tip that penetrated a target's hull before igniting the missile's compact energy pack. The impact would trigger the missile's warhead, which like proton torpedoes, was thermonuclear in nature. A concussion missile did not necessarily need to impact in order to detonate, however, some could be set to explode at a preset proximity to the target. In atmosphere, the missile created a deafening sonic boom and caused major damage to the surrounding area. Some were equipped with multiplie-lock on systems.

To clairify things further:

An A-Wing is starfighter who's main role is that of an Interceptor and Scout Ship (due to its jamming abilities and speed).

A Y-Wing is an Assault starfighter that has multiple roles; Starfighter, Bomber, Escort, Scout, Courier, and Shuttle.

I still prefer the Delta-7 Jedi starfighter, or even the Ep.III fighter(I forget it's designation), but an A-wing seems pretty close!

Hasid Lafre the Ywing can carry either one but not both. The ones on the death star attack run were modified to carry proton torpedoes. Still would be cool to have a Ywing that can carry both. Then I would be able to wipe out enemies 10 times faster. Mess with me now tie piolets.

IIRC the awing was partly designed from the jedi star fighters or it was the starfighters that were the forrunner for the tie fighteres.
