Thread: what more do i need for my graflex?

I love the 2.0 and 2.5 kits. I'm a sucker for Graflex. There are "more accurate" replica kits out there, but the "inaccuracies" of the 2.5 are trivial. Its a great kit. If you're going to invest in these kits, there are a lot of after-market options to upgrade them to make them "more" accurate.

I have been a sucker for the Graflex since 1977. There are certainly cooler looking, more practical to wield saber hilts out there on the market, but the Graflex was the first iteration of this "thing" that we all saw in 1977, and were amazed. Jimmy Carter was the President of the United States when we first saw it, and it endures. My guess, is that of all the kits, that TCSS sells more Graflex than anything else. I'd be curious if my assumptions on that were true?

Yeah, I’ll also vouch for the 2.0 kit. If you’re not a stickler for accuracy, it’s a great and economical kit right out of the box. You can make a nice, non-functional prop replica out of it within minutes. And, if you’re installing electronics, its design makes the process much easier, since the endcap is already vented for sound, and it comes a blade holder and with switches for the red buttons.

Yeah playing and fingering a saber is fun. When I see a saber Ican’t just leave it there, have to pick it up.

    2 possibilities without knowing more.
    1) low battery can cause mis-swings, etc. make sure it’s fully charged.
    2) if everything IS NOT secure, then you could be causing a short with your components and wires banging around (or from being banged around before).

Number 1 culprit is usually low batteries.

Another thing to check is if your speaker is too close to the sound board. Vibrations from the speaker can cause swing events. Either position the speaker a little further away, or turn the volume setting down a notch or two.

You'll likely need to start changing some of the swing sensitivity settings for your sound card if moving the speaker is not an option. Bumping the volume down from 4 to 3 will often do the trick. But if not, you'll have to start adjusting the other settings. Check your sound card's manual for more detailed information on which settings to adjust.
