Thread: Pad came off power extender

Default Pad came off power extender

    Hey everyone,

I just finished my first build but I've run into an issue. I'm not sure if I just overheated it or did something wrong (my first soldering project) but shortly after completion I dropped the saber (not a terribly hard fall) and it looks like on of the pads on the power extender popped off! I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or suggestion? Is it possible to solder it back down or will I need to buy a new extender and re-wire?

    Thanks!

Overheated during soldering. I think you need to get a new one.

No, you dont necessarily need to get a new one, see where the R is next to the missing pad, you can take an Xacto Knife and srape off a bit of the solder mask and solder your wire to that then cover it with hot glue or blacktape or to be sure both. lol
    Hmmmmmmmm Pie.

If you're able, you could also just solder directly to the small resistor pad the trace leads to.
