Thread: Mounting 2 AV switches

    Default Mounting 2 AV switches

I'm planning on mounting 2 illuminated AV switches in a 3" extension for my main and aux switches. I'm debating options:

    2 countersunk 16mm switches
A countersunk 16mm main and countersunk 12mm for aux
An acivation box style 3 or 18

I like the idea of having the 2 countersunk swtiches, but I'm wondering how tough that's going to be to wire both of them up and mount them up, whereas the switch box would probably be easier. Any advice?

Switch boxes are really easy to wire up. You don't have to worry about twisting up the wires as you install the switches.

Some people don't like the aesthetics of a switch box, so that's something to consider. I personally like them.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Switch boxes give that classic Graflex clamp look.

Yeah, I'm really thinking that I'd like to wire up 2 illuminated switches, Neopixel if I can swing it (planning a Neopixel blade anyway, so matching the switch colour to the blade colour woudl be sweet). If I do go that route, then wiring the data cable between the 2 switches seems like it would be a major pain, or require a lot of extra wire unless I go for the switch box. The style 3 box looks like it would do what I'd need. I could mount both switches in the box first, then wire the data cable and the rest quite easily before mounting the box.
