Neopixel ledstrip values

Still planning for a neopixel saber and was wondering how to configure an illuminated blade plug..
If the config is for a 140 pixel long blade, what happens when I put a 10 or less pixel blade plug..?
Do I need a separate config file for a on the shelf “bling” mode.?
Same question if I reserve 1 pixel to illuminate a crystal chamber.

The pixels each just pass on the data, so if you put 1 or 10 they will act like the pixels up to 1 or 10 and the rest of the data will just be ignored.
