    Yep, I use Dullcote all the time, you should be fine. Do not spray heavy. Thin even coats with time in between in the key. Keep in mind, that particular clear is matte, so your gold will not be glossy anymore.
    There is no perfect rattle can solution, but these two I use quite a bit together with good results.
