Recharge port to deep?!

Ok, I'm not sure how I went wrong, but after months of slowly building a saber for a friend I was finally ready to plug in and give it a final charge before calling it done.
Buuuuuut, the recharge port is to deep for the plug to reach!!
I have the recharge port mounted on the Acrylic Chassis Disc for Recharge Port inside of a MHS Gear and I'm using one of the longer kill key pieces for it.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Is there an adaport I can get that will have a longer 2.1mm barrel plug?

Ok, answering my own question. I just used a razor blade and cut back some of the plastic so the plug can fit.
Still, feel free to mention what methods or suggestions you guys have to address this issue.

You could make the hole in the hilt bigger so that the moulded plastic of the 2.1mm plug fits
