Thread: How to get: Candle Flame

Default How to get: Candle Flame

Hi all!! Im working on a build that ive named ~Surtr~ Its going to be heavily weathered with a copper shroud, and i really want a blade that looks like FIRE. Specifically, like a candle.

Ive got a NBv4 that i just need to wire up, so ill tweak the shimmer and flickering to look like a candle flame. (but if anyone has done something like this and wants to chime in with advice, i wont turn them away)

MY QUESTION: Has anyone found a decent flame color between ORANGE and YELLOW?

I may have jumped the gun, but i bought a red/green/white Tri-CREE (it was either going to be white or amber for the FoC. Some time ago I read on one of these threads that amber, when bright, can look like an orange creamsicle and that is NOT what i want, hence the white.) and i was thinking id just heavily resist the green, Like a 1.5 ohm 1.5 watt resistor on both r and g. Ive yet to experiment with drive settings, thats a whole new field for me.

I appreciate any wisdom yall see fit to bestow on me.

My first response would be an Amber led for a yellowy "candle like" flame. You could try getting a tri rebel Lime/RO or Lime/Amber and fiddle with those for your blend :v

Yeah, if i dont like the mixing with the cree red/green, then ill definitely try a rebel. I was very cautious on the prospect of an amber because i dont want a creamsicle, but if my FoC is yellow, not white, then that may be what i settle on.

Either way, after a bit of mixing and drive fiddling, ill post my results!!!

Here is a link to a color program to mess around in, to come up with some sort of plan: http://kourikustoms.com/tools/NeoPix...rSelector.html
