    Default Sotirus: a GrayJedi/Sentinel Lightsaber

INSPIRATION: Most of us know the Three Schools of the Jedi Order: Guardian, Consular, or Sentinel. I have always been the most interested in the Jedi Sentinel. They are most well known for being Jedi Temple Guards or librarians or other skilled specialists. But many other Yellow-Bladed Sentinel Jedi are out there. It has been said,

"If presented with a locked door,
the Jedi Guardian would Knock it down,
the Jedi Consular would simply Knock,
but the Jedi Sentinel would Pick the Lock...on that building's Backdoor."

    ~and~

"The Jedi Sentinel's main desire is to seek out and destroy traces of the dark side.
They are often willing to do what others are unwilling to do."

These statements - plus their affinity for wearing masks - have led me to consider Jedi Sentinels the ANBU of the Jedi Order. (For those of you who are not up on their Naruto Lore, the ANBU are Ninja who wear Masks and keep their true identity and even their affiliation with the ANBU a secret.)

    Basically....

    ...with that in mind.

SABER BACK STORY: This is the Saber of a Gray Jedi - once Jedi Sentinel. He named it SOTIRUS, the combination of the Sith words for "Pure" (Sote) and "Light" (Irus). A name filled with such Good, spoken in the language of Dark Side. Its owner holds in his hand this contradiction, a constant reminder of the balance in the Force

~Design with MHS Builder and Gimp

    ~Sotirus is a Nagamaki Lightsaber

~The blade color is Bronze, keeping with the Yellow Sentinel origin but also utilizes great physical strength just like Lowbacca; one of the few other documented Bronze Blades.

    ~Sotirus Extended into Naginata Form

~Runs a Nano Nano Biscotte off a single 18500 Li-on with recharge port and Amber illuminated 16mm AV Switch, a Quad Amber with a Red Color Disk to get the Bronze Color), and a Coiled-Pair wire to connect the speaker at the bottom of the hilt

~And the Lower extension can be removed and switched out to accommodate a Single Bladed wielder.

The Extending mechanism is a 1in Aluminum Pipe that Slides through two MHSV1 Blade Holder Style 7 parts made custom by TCSS to mimic Darth Vader's Meditation Chamber. There is a Rod and Channel inside the Main Hilt so that everything stays in line when opened and closed and from sliding out completely..

    I hope you like it.

The extension is really cool. Is there anything that holds it in the open or closed positions?

Yes. believe it or not, Friction. I mentioned that Channel and Rod running through the interior of the main hilt. I pinched the body at both ends so that when the rod is either out or in, there is less of a round cylinder and instead an oval. Therefore more pressure on the rod. Similar to how the plastic toy lightsabers extend in a cone: the far end is smaller than the bottom edge so friction of the two parts hold it in place. Because my main body is 1.25in Sink tube, I was able to warp them with just a little squeeze.

Very innovative! I've always identified with the Sentinel way and amber is my favourite LED colour so a bronze Jedi Sentinel saber is something I was going to love anyway but your highly original design is just fantastic & the sliding 'naginata' extension is brilliant...BRAVO!!!

Definitely one of the more unique designs I've seen

I love it! It's always great to see my fellow Sentinels out there, especially when they put so much thought into a character for themselves!
