Default Blade tip falls off during sparring

    Hey guys,

I've had a number of blades where their tips tend to fall off after a duration of medium-to-hard dueling. I've been using a 16 acrylic cement (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ilpage_o06_s00) to glue the tips to the blade. Is there a better alternative or method for keeping the tips from flying off during dueling?

That appears to be the proper solvent for attaching polycarbonate parts together. If used correctly, the tip should fuse to the blade completely. You may not be applying it properly. You need enough on the joint to cause the plastic to dissolve a bit. When the solvent evaporates, you're left with a single, fused piece.

Sounds like you may not be using enough of your solvent, or not giving it sufficient cure time.

How do I know if I'm not using enough? Or if I'm applying it correctly? The liquid tends to ooze out of the sides once I've put it on the end of the blade and pushed the tip into blade.

We use weld-on 3 and in our experience the tip will not come off without the tube actually breaking as well.

I apply the solvent to my blade tip, making sure to get all the contact surfaces coated. Then I press the tip into the blade and give it a little twist to ensure good contact is made.

It could be that the solvent is being scraped off when you are pushing the tip in, you could try letting the solvent sit momentarily before mating the tip to the blade.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I might try a few more times to ensure all the surfaces are covered and letting the solvent sit momentarily before putting it together. I may also give Tim's suggestion of using weld-3 a try too.
