El Lightsaber questions

Hey, i'd like to build a red bladed EL lightsaber and i've seen tons of plans online. One involved wrapping the wire around a metal pole that was put into the handle. another was just folded up or something. Could someone draw up or show me a picture of the best blade design? also i'd like to mount in some kind of sound board if possible, the cheaper the better. i read a little about hasbro sound boards, but still dont know how to wire them or mount them in the handle. Any wiring schematics you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (also any info you can give a first time saber builder will be greatly appreciated)

thanks for the pointers, i see the el fblasde setup and the wires are a lot closer than i expected, which is good. What diameter EL do i want?

also, what kind of tubing could i get? i hate to be a helpless noob, but i am. Could you give me links to the products page of what you use? i tried looking on mcmaster.com or something like that, but allt the choices confused me. Thanks for all your help! also, anyone know about the sound board? if not, no prob i'll figure something out.

changed it to 17' because i want a 40" blade, didnt realize i'd need that much.

Yup, that's to light it up... hilt stuff would be more, but I assume you have that thought out.

i think i know basically what i'll need for the handle: female jack, stereo wire, switch, metal pipe, any other doodads i want for the decoration of the handle. Anything else necessary?

You'll need some sort of blade holder. There are ones in the store that you can mount into the 2 main diameters of sink tubes that people use, if you're going that way.
