Luke Skywalker BladeBuilder Board Question

I just stripped down my BladeBuilder saber and I was looking at the board trying to figure out where everything was going to go. My question is: what is "UPP" and is the chip soldered to it important? The boards that other people are using don't appear to have this.

well the little blue thing on the back is the swing sensor. It looks like VPP to me.

Huh. I guess those are V's. Woops! So that stays. Good to know.
