I think the etching looks fantastic.

I worked on the etching a little more. I added double circles around the temple guard logo. The Jedi symbol on the other end has a circle around it. Adding a circle to the temple guard logo gave the saber more balance. I'm going to cut some thin stripes into the brass (cut halfway through) to expose the aluminum underneath. That should give it more balance. Plus, I need to make a substantial cut to the brass on the backside to allow sound to come out. I'm going to have a speaker toward each end of the saber. Anyway, enough rambling. Here are the pics:

The good thing about working with thick brass tube is that one can sand it down and re-etch. That's what I did today. This time I used a muriatic acid/hydrogen peroxide combination to etch. It turned out ok. There are still a few rough places to sand out, but I'm satisfied with it.

I also worked on the middle section. I'm going to put green diffusing material (from a theater props store) behind those parallel lines.

Finally, I decided to change the overall configuration of MHS pieces. I'm using two MHS adapters on each side. These will cover an aluminum tube that runs through the center. I've cut it out to make room for the switches.

The brass tube slides over should material very nicely. I am either going to etch something into the shroud material, or use this shiny vinyl (which is made to cover automobiles). I like the dark brass color, but I think the saber would have a nicer effect if I etched something into the shroud material. Or, I may etch a Jedi symbol in the round cutout, and then keep the dark brass vinyl in the longer cut out. Not sure. What do you think?

Very elegant looking saber you have there. Can't wait to see it finished.
