Default New Saber Main Body Advice

Hey all, I'm looking at putting together my first saber, and I'm really partial to using 2 extension pieces for the main body instead of one singular body piece. My worry though is the fit.

What I'd like to do is pair the 3.7" ribbed piece (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...sion-P245.aspx) with one of the 5" fluted extensions (maybe something like this: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/5-...ctor-P404.aspx).

Has anyone had experience with how the 5" or the ribbed sections go together to know if that's realistic or not? I had originally planned on using the MHS Speaker Mount V6 (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...kers-P892.aspx) using a battery holder to switch out 18650 cells and a Pico Crumble. I'm just wondering if that'll fit because I can't seem to find a height measurement on that specific part so I'm just not sure if that'll fit in there or bump into the switch.

My other concern is the switch. The switch would fall on the 5" fluted extension in the middle of the saber. It looks like it's going to be REALLY close to the threads... maybe too close?

I was thinking maybe I need to just go get a piece of electrical plastic pipe and creating a piece to hold things a little tighter and maybe just put the battery holder in the ribbed area instead.

Well, the parts will definitly fit together... But i am not sure about the ID of the fluted connector aswell... I don't know exactly where you are placing the switch, but if the the speaker holder fits into the fluted part it MAY be not enough space...

Fluted extensions have 1.25" ID. Ribbed, are 1.15". Most IDs are listed on the relevant product page.

for a first time build I recommend using the v6 battery holder and located it in the 5" fluted extenion. I would move the switch from the 5" fluted piece to the ribbed section and would use either a http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/SP...itch-P641.aspx , http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Other-C73.aspx or http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/SP...utton-P42.aspx for my switch. anyone of these three switches have very low internal profiles (especially option 1 and 3). If you do decide to go this route be sure and do the mach up on MHS Builder for switch placement when ordering the switch hole milling service. Be sure to get the right service for your switch. Given your part list I have included a mach up in my styling. sound card would be were I would place the battery holder/speaker/internal sound card. The switch is where I would have Tim mill out a spot to mount a http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/SP...itch-P641.aspx. I have used the speaker/battery holder and that particular switch in several short builds (under nine inches from pommel to blade holder). The battery/speaker/sound card holder are a great way to house your internals. Also get the 9" T8 shielding http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/9-...bes-P1009.aspx ; this thing slide right over the wired end and provide isolation between the metal hilt and internal electronics. The pommel would hold everything in place. one other note of caution; if you do decide to use this battery holder and want to use one of the sound board options that has a pre-wired sound card adapter (like the one for the NB card); I have ran into internal clearance issues when using the wiring adapter and holder with each other. Both are great parts separately.
