    Default Chepo Board wiring Questions

    Hello everyone

If there's anyone who knows what is the problem with this, I really appreciate it.......

I built my lightsaber with cheapo soundboard like 1 week ago, but somehow I burnt the board with my soldering tool.

So, I bought a 2015 bladebuilder Obi-wan version, and got another board from that.

I just follow the guide from the forum,

    2010ModifiedBasicrev01-10-2011.jpg

and it worked before. But I don't understand any reason why it is not working right now.

With this board, the LED turns on when I wired transistor and the positive of the board, but it's working inversely (when the switch is on, LED turns off, but blink with Flash on Clash / the switch is off, LED turns on)

and with the negative, it's not working at all.

Is there anyone who know why, Please give some advice for me.

I'm holding this board like 1 hour, but I can't find any problems with wiring other part like batters, speaker, etc.

It sounds like you're having issues with your transistor. You may have a different type than shown in the diagram.

First, make sure you have a PNP type transistor. Check the pinout for your specific transistor. The Base terminal connects to the board. The Emitter terminal connects to the battery (+). The Collector terminal connects to your LED (+).

Some transistors have their pinout done differently than the one shown in the above diagram.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.

I got tip42c transistor, which is recommended this forum (I read some posts)

    and yeah, that's pnp type.

But thanks to you, I can make sure that there's problem between transistor and board.

I don't know why, but when I wired emitter and collector first, and the moment I wired base terminal, it kills the power. Speaker also got turned off that moment.

Now I'm trying to wire them in the other way.

    Anyway, thanks for your advice.

I've used plenty of TIP42s in this way, it should definitely work. Did you take a close look at the imprint? Maybe the transistor is actually a TIP41.

    yeah it's tip42c. definitely.

I don't think my transistor is the problem...

I wired with spare transistor, and it happened as same.

and also it worked with the board i got from Kenan Jarrus version lightsaber(which is burnt...)

so I guess wiring or transistors are not a problem too, maybe there's some kind of error with circuits of the board I'm using...

I'm trying to figure it out, and if I solve that, I'm gonna share with you guys.

See if you can post a picture of your wiring.

The PNP transistor in the diagram above has pins in the following configuration: Base, Collector, Emitter. It's possible your transistor doesn't match up with that, even if it's a TIP42C. Remember that Emitter goes to the *battery*, not to the LED.

So I want to do this setup with a white Cree xp e2. What kind of resistor would I need?
