How to get wires from port in pommel?

So what's the trick to putting a port in the pommel? My speaker covers the opening, so no room to feed wires from port to hilt. Im doubtful drilling holes through speaker is answer.

The typical method is to cut a small channel in the outside of your speaker holder, and run your wires through that. The wires will go around the speaker, not through it.

There is generally enough clearance to cut a channel on the side of the speaker holder, to run the wires past the speaker.
