Thread: Mix and Match?

  1. #1

    Default Mix and Match?

Generally are components from different companies interchangeable? I am looking at getting the DM1 and making a basic Maul saber and adding to it over time (sound, FoC, etc). It is my understanding that some companies offer plug and play components. I could probably handle installing things myself but I don't think I want to deal with the hassle. I also don't feel like paying someone $1200 to do it for me.

Hardware components typically are not. Electronics usually (but not alway) can be mixed and matched (if the specs match and they "fit" in the hilt in question).

Thank you for the reply; someone from the 501st forums suggested I buy the DM1 from korbanth https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=49597.0 because he will do the black painting and a few other options. However, I was planning to buy the blades and lights from TCSS and later sound and FoC from somewhere.

I believe the DM1 sold in the TCSS store is the same as the one Korbanth sells.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Many in the sabersmith community consider the Plecter Labs sound cards sold here to be the best in the industry. The experts on this forum also have the most experience with them, so if you buy a different sound card, there may be less support here.
