Thread: a new saber - Seneschal

Default a new saber - Seneschal

Hi all. Here's my first saber for 2017 - Seneschal.
It was tough but there's no etching at all on this one. It does have 3 custom shroud pieces I made, and a custom emitter lathed down by my son.
I cut the shrouds to sort of cradle the control box and PLI. It was a pain but looks good I think. The saber was mostly finished weeks ago, but I kept getting the wrong smd resistors in the mail.
Shout out to Darth Chasm for finding me a new place for those.

    The specs:
    - Tri-cree RGrB
    - PRIZM 4.0
    - Tcss RGB switch ( my first one, love it)
    - Tcss Power level indicator ( left unmodded for full led's)
    - red aux switch
    - recharge port and kill key
    - custom shrouds
    - Genuine Stingray leather grip
    - 3 red accent led's on one side, programmed into a cool chasing pattern.
    - A Goth3Designs PRIZM chassis
    - 28mm bass speaker
    - medium weathering and gunmetal finish

    Thank you for looking!

Looks great. What is the grip made out of?

Dude, that's awesome. Layering... the secret to making MHS not look like MHS!

    That grip is pretty sick.

Glad I could help out and that everything worked out for you.

I love it! The stingray leather makes me think of krayt dragon skin -- so cool! I also enjoy the idea of being able to swap out shrouds.

How did you attach the stingray? I see the stitching but it doesn't look to be the actual seam? Looks great either way!

So after i cut the piece to size, I covered that section with double sided tape.
It is indeed stitched on the seam with heavy embroidery thread. Then a bit of clear nail polish so it won't unravel.
In general I don't like to glue things on sabers, but the tape and stitching is super secure and it won't migrate out of place.
Edit: i forgot to mention that after the X stitching, the thread goes back under those stitches for the whole length of the wrap. That way you don't have to tie it at the ends and try to tuck that under.
