Thread: New 3D-printed shroud 15 months in the making.

Default New 3D-printed shroud 15 months in the making.

So I wanted to make a shroud when I initially built this saber in 2015. I had the design sketched up a long time ago but just never got around to making it. I initially tried milling it out of delrin, but it proved to be nearly impossible. Fast forward to two months ago, I started to really get into 3D printing. Bought a cheap Prusa i3 clone and started printing all sorts of things, getting better and better about printing and taking care of the printer in the process. And then I came across the CAD file for my shroud again, and figured the time was right. I sliced it up, and set the printer to go overnight. A few iterations, adjusting the settings, and voila! Now I'm sitting here with it on my desk at work, and basking once again about the infinite possibilities of 3D printing.

Nice. I like the way the shroud lines up with the cutouts in the slotted MHS extension.

Are those gold colored O-rings on the emitter neck?

Thanks for the compliments! The emitter is wrapped with 10' of 16 gauge brass craft wire.
