You can get hand knurling tools if you don't have a lathe. They work like tube cutters. I think imports run about $50-80 and USA made are in the hundreds upon hundreds of dollars. It looks like a pain to do though to be honest.

Any plans on sealing that copper, so it does not tarnish over time or is tarnished look what you working on achieving overtime?
Probably after weathering.

Chassis is etched and stencil plated with copper. Rainbow patina applied.
