Default Basic switch LED wiring vs Blade lighting

Hey guys, I bought a red LED switch for my hilt. I plan on it being a stunt saber so I'm using a carbon blade for this build. Is there a wiring diagram for just lighting a switch without the blade led. Do I need resistors or can I just wire it straight to a battery pack. I guess I'm looking for guidance and parts list from a veteran as I'm new to the scene. Any help would be appreciated.

No sound or blade, just an illuminated switch? You can get by with alkalines in that case. No need for li-ion cells unless you really want to go that route.

A resistor will be needed. The DynaOhm resistor will handle any calculations for you and run your switch LED just fine, or you can calculate your own standard resistor value (see the links in my signature).

Connect the battery (+) to one of the switch terminals, connect the 2nd switch terminal to your resistor or DynaOhm, connect the other side of the resistor to your switch LED (+), then connect the switch LED (-) to your battery (-). Use a latching type switch.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Awesome! Sounds simple enough. I'll have to see if the switch I bought is latching or not... If not, I'll get another. Thanks for the help.
