    Default Wire alternative???

Hello guys I'm am new to the forum. I am a Operating Engineer and by chance I came across 500 feet Cat 5 wire. Now I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with Cat 5 but I thought I would ask anyway. Cat 5 is generally a series of 8 unbranded wires encased in a insulated sleeve. Can I use this wire? Would this work for all my electric wiring? I was told by our master electrician that it would.

I believe I have heard of some people using an Ethernet cable's wires before

I think I'm going to try it. The wire is thinner than a regular. 28 gauge wire however each wire is actually 24 gauge.

I will keep everyone posted if all goes well.

I've used it mostly for prototyping. I wouldn't use it for any of your high power lines like the LED and Battery. One of the reasons I don't use it in general is that it's stiffer typically making it harder to cram things together.

That make sense. For a thin wire it is a bit stiffer than a regular 26 gauge awg wire
