Thread: 12mm AV switch adapter for 16mm hole

Default 12mm AV switch adapter for 16mm hole

Okay you guys, I have a question. So I have a 12mm illuminated av switch that I would like to use for a build, but the hole that was already drilled into the hilt is for a 16mm. (I only purchased this particular switch because of a special design it has on it.) So my question is has anyone familiar with any sort of adapter or anything that could be used to fit my switch into my hole? If not, I have a 16mm switch I can use, it just doesn't have that same design, but I could live with it.

You have a few options. You may be able to get an activation box with a 12mm hole in it, and use that to cover up the 16mm hole. There are a few here to choose from: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...Boxes-C57.aspx

You could use some sort of filler like epoxy or JB Weld to fill in the hole and attach the 12mm switch. Depending on your skill level, it may or may not look like you want.

Using a 16mm switch would be easiest, but it may upset the aesthetics of your saber.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Thanks for the input! Unfortunately the activation box probably won't work for me, as the hole is on a curved part, but I will definitely look into those other options. Thanks once again!

FYI, the bottom of the activation boxes are curved to fit on a round tube, specifically, the 1.45" o.d. of the MHS v1 parts.

Yeah, I know. It's an MHS part from elsewhere.

you could always wrap sandpaper around the body piece (sand facing outwards), and then rub the box along it, until it picks up the curve of the piece below?

Well, the problem is that the curve is more of an angle, so to get it just right would likely sacrifice the stability of the box.

At this point, I just went ahead and used the 16mm backup switch I had, but I thank you all for your input!
