Default I need an adult... (wiring a tri cree)

Okay, I fully expect to get **** upon. I know full well that this is a silly question with probably an equally silly answer. But I'm stuck and don't know what to do. So here goes:

I'm about to wire my tri cree, and I get everything set up. Wire is in the helping hands, soldering iron is in my hand, both are pre tinned, we're good to go. Right? Apparently not. For some reason, I can't get the wire to join with the LED pad. The solder will join just fine with the wire, but not the pad. What's wrong with what I'm doing?

Also, here's a video of my feeble attempts. https://youtu.be/KkkCr7P7RnA

When this happened to me, I found that my soldering iron was not hot enough. I kick mine up to 375 C and it goes much better. Hope this helps!

You don't have the led attached to the heatsink already do you?

edit: just saw the video. Heatsink is likely a big contributor to your troubles.

Boosted the temp up and removed the star from the heatsink. That definitely got things to start working! Thanks you two!
