Thread: Introducing Relic

    Default Introducing Relic

    Relic

Greetings saber lovers. Time to debut another new saber from yours truly, and this time there's no copper! But there are some brass accents.

So, after my friend got his saber Payback home and showed it off to his kids his daughters just had to have their own custom lightsabers too. This was the design that one of them chose as her ideal saber hilt, leaving it up to my imagination for additional custom accents.

What we have is a simple MHS hilt with a custom machined brass switch box for two white ring 12mm anti vandal switches, which is mounted off center for easier gripping. Switches are either constant on after power up or animated depending on the sound bank selected. Custom machined brass blade retention screw, with a matching custom machined brass button for the kill key. Hilt is weathered with Birchwood Casey's Aluminium Black, and then scuffed with 400 grit sand paper and steel wool to get the desired look. Brass parts were aged with a spray solution of ammonia and sea salt.

All the electronics are housed in a custom machined Madcow styled pvc chassis.

    Specs

    Tri Cree R/G/rB
    Crystal Focus 7.5 with CEX
7.4 volt 18500 Lion battery pack
    Recharge port
    Bass speaker
12mm white ring anti vandal switches

    And now some glams.

    Thanks for looking.

Awesome work dude. Love that heavy weathering, it sure looks like a relic.

Real talk: I love 100% of everything about that switch box. The weather, the dual switches to.... is that oxidized? Like what happens to old pennies? I love it!

Also don't think I didn't notice that double male connector just under the switch box. Very sneaky.

Wow, now there's a saber that looks like it went through a Sarlacc.

That is some very nice weathering. Excellent job!
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Agreed... the weathering looks great, and the weathering on the switch guard is spot on...well done.
