button tap vs long press

Is it possible to setup the NBv3 to play extra sounds with a button tap? So I'd hold the button for a full second to power-up and power-down but a quick tap of the button would play (for example) a blaster block or a force lightning sound. Is that something this board knows how to do? Is there a way I can trick it into doing that?

I didn't do as much homework as I should have before buying the NB and I'd really like to not be stuck with a board that lacks functionality I assumed it had.

In short, no. The NB is considered an entry level board. The functions you want are available with the PC, Prism and CF.
