Thread: CF v8 Main LED

    Default CF v8 Main LED

Hello, I have a crystal focus v8, and my main LED, which is wired to the main LED pads, (positive and negative are correct, I checked) is not lighting up. The LED is not burned out, I have checked it with a resistor and a battery and it seems fine. The LED is a Luxeon Rebel Red-Orange from TCSS. I am aware that my problem may be in the override file, but I was wondering if any of you could point my in the right direction as to what may be wrong.

    Thank you!

Well, looks like you posted the first step, make sure your config settings are correct. Also use a multi-meter and see what if power is being sent to the LEDs, both at the board pads and the pads on the star. Also verify the amperage being delivered is where you want it to be.

Are you running a single LED die or a tri-setup. If running a tri is this the only die not working?

Also clear hi-resolution images of your wiring would be helpful.

I assume everything else works fine? The board boots and when you press the activation switch you get the appropriate blade sounds? If that's the case, you may not have specified the current values for the LED in your soundfont folders properly. Or there may be a wiring disconnect between the board and the LED.

I'll start checking with a multimeter, yes. Everything else works fine. Accent LEDs, sound, switches, it's all good.

The LED I'm using is a single LED module from TCSS.

I'm not sure I can get pictures right now, I don't have a decent camera. But it's positive LED to positive LED pad, negative LED to negative LED pad

Well that's the easy part, but without actually seeing the board and wiring we can't tell if you've got good solder joints connecting everything together, or if you've accidentally crossed a stream that shouldn't have been. What are your LED values in your config files?

In the override.txt file, you need to make sure that the first LED value is not 0 (which it probably is).

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before... you want blindingly bright, super loud, running 1138 blinkies off of the cheapest sound card you can find AND you want all of it to run on a battery the size of a dime, and run for a very, VERY long time. That one cracks me up every time..."

The override file on my SD doesn't look like it has an LED value. I am confused, do I add it? Is there some other parameter that needs to be changed? Here it is posted below.

The multimeter reads no current when I put it in series with the LED. I didn't mention before, thank you all, this is of great help.

Yes, change the first value in color0 to 740, and then try it.
