Yeah ive seen people do that with the idea that the saber is powered by the crystal like in the films. But I got to thinking if something could be setup like what Ultra does. used the crystals instead of filters

For Ultra's sabers, you just stuff the crystal up the hilt.

No... No you don't... it's a small trinket to display with the hilt.

Oh...Thats what I do with my ultrasaber. I just stuff it up before the battery box and pommel

Right...unless you've got a hole in the side of your saber to see it, there's really no reason to stuff it up the hilt.

Do I detect innuendo?
I do think it would be cool to have an exposed section of hilt where you could see the crystal. How effective would one be as a filter? Or would it scatter/block the light too much?
