    The other thing you may want to consider is heat buildup with the Crees, left running they may get hot over time.
    Also an idea for a display, and Arduino could be made to externally drive the leds (and even fade/control them via PWM) with a direct connect, just need some resistors/transistors in the mix.

    Heat buildup may indeed be an issue. The external driver is also a constant current one with a pwm input, so that is one part of the solution. I'll ask TCSS' if I could buy the threaded aluminium tube from the 'Heatsink module for 1" ID tubes' with the large coppper heatsink from the 'MHS Heat Sink V3' - they seem to have the same diameter and thread. That too should help but what about the TIM? Is TCSS' Bond Ply 100 ('Star thermal tape pad') the best option out there?
